Trauma is not rare because we live in a system that perpetuates trauma.
Trauma is not rare because we live in a system that perpetuates trauma. This is the unfortunate truth. Thankfully, we are starting to value the health and preservation of our nervous system on a collective level. From here, we can learn tools and ways of being that honor this new knowledge and watch as we transform our worlds from the inside out.
This society is orchestrated in a way where there is constant over-stimulation and agitation. Most of us are activated from the moment we open our eyes, to the moment we close them for a few hours at night.
Taking time on a daily to "orient the nervous system" (that is, to give it time to "harmonize" and come down from the stimulation) is a game changer. Not only for your mental health but also your physical wellness and emotional capacity.
And there are MANY ways, it's just about doing an intentional practice that relaxes and soothes you...
A 5 minute meditation, a cup of tea without the phone, taking some breaths holding one had on your chest and the other on your belly, massaging your ears to a 3 minute instrumental music track...the list goes on.
You create your took-box. You create space to let yourself come down.
