Capacity to Feel ?
When we have the capacity to feel as opposed to being frozen/avoidant of our feelings (something we may have learned in order to survive), we are able to respond more appropriately to our experiences.
Our feelings are messages and hold great insight.
But, we have to FEEL them to be able to KNOW them, and the wisdom they hold.
Yes, availability of emotion must also be coupled with mindfulness...
having vibrant mind-body connection.
1. We may have large availability of emotion, for example, but dont always know how to put those emotions into the right context.
2. And for those of us who have a hard time feeling: we may avoid FEELING for many reasons, and become frozen or disconnected from our internal experience. Our work is to explore the roots of this disconnect.
Somatic exploration is an amazing approach to not only expanding our emotional capacity and awareness, but also to heal the mind-body connection. A connection that is often effected by our daily lives, personal experiences, and from living among a capitalist system.
